There used to be a residence where an upper-class warrior of the Shibata clan lived. Later, in the middle of the Meiji period, it was inherited by the Murayama family, a dealer in kimono fabrics, with the impressive pine garden. Taikoso is combined with the garden and three historical buildings; 'Taishoan', the tea house of the former Murayama family, 'Mushatei', the second house of the former Musha family, and 'Shiunkaku'. Shiunkaku was originally located in the Shirose head family's garden and it was relocated to where it exists now. Taikoso gives you a feel of the history and culture of the castle town, Shibata.
